Grove Hi Tech survived a spirited attack from the Diamond Upsetters side to earn an equal share of the points in their final group match when the second annual Ralph Green sponsored East Bank Football Association Under-11 league/knock-out tournament continued on Saturday last at the Grove Playfield.
Contesting the feature match of the morning, the high riding Grove team was kept on the back foot for most of the encounter and couldn’t even convert either of two penalties awarded to them towards the end of the 30-minute match.
Diamond Upsetters, one of two new clubs in the competition came close to scoring on two occasions but were denied in a gem that they dominated; the match ended 0-0.
Herstelling Raiders were needled by Friendship All Stars, the latter scoring in the penultimate minute of the match through Tyree Thuesdee’s goal. The other match of the day was another 0-0 stalemate between Samatta Point Kaneville and Mocha Champs.
The battle for the final three spots in the final four will heat up over the next few Saturday’s. Mocha Champs have completed their quota of seven (7) matches and have 9 points the same as Herstelling Raiders and Diamond United which both have a game in hand.
