Rohan Persaud, called ‘Mongo’ 37, of Lot 10 Grant 1803 Crabwood Creek, Corentyne, Berbice is
on trial for murder before Justice Jo Ann Barlow and a mixed Jury in the Berbice High Court.
Persaud, a spray painter and automobile body works repairman, is accused of murdering Ganesh Permaul called ‘Bungal’, on September 17, 2015 at Crabwood Creek, Corentyne Berbice.
Permaul, a welder/fabricator, who was 29 at the time, lived at Lot 32 Grant 1803 Crabwod Creek, Corentyne, Berbice. He was allegedly found with lacerations about his body.
After the 12-member mixed Jury was sworn in, Justice Barlow adjourned the matter to today. The man’s attorney, Sasha Roberts, was not present and Attorney-at-law Tanya Warren Clements stood in for her colleague during the empanelling session.
Persaud pleaded not guilty when the matter was read to him.
The prosecution is expected to call eight witnesses.
