Regardless of the outcome of the 2017 Miss World Pageant set for next month in China, once it is completed Miss Vena Mookram, who is representing Guyana, is set to pursue studies at Nations University.
Nations University, according to its Director, Dr. Brian O’Toole has been making a remarkable name for itself in the academic realm over the years. In order to help Mookram fulfil her academic goals, the University has afforded her a scholarship.
There are reports that Mookram is eager to take her place at the prestigious institution.
According to information out of the institution, one day before leaving Guyana to attend the Miss World finals in China, Mookram visited Nations University to receive her scholarship to pursue the Association of Business Executives Level 4 programme at Nations University.
She is expected to begin her studies in management and business in January 2018. This move by Mookram, according to the Director, “proves that it is possible to be both blessed with beauty and have a clear career path mapped out for yourself.”
During her recent visit to the New Market Street, Georgetown Nations University, Mookram was able to share news of the various issues she is championing in the areas of health and youth leadership. Upon her return, she plans to join other students at Nations in their work with youth in the communities of Sophia, Tiger Bay and East La Penitence.
The finals of the Miss World competition will be shown live on television here and, according to Dr. O’Toole, “we will be watching closely to see our own Vena Mookram.”
