Caribbean Airlines has announced the waiving of fees for passengers who want to change their flights because of Hurricane Irma. Hurricane Jose is currently now gathering strength and is also expected to hit the region.
Extending its empathy and concerns, the Trinidad-headquartered airline said that the storms have impacted several flights – many were cancelled.
The airlines said that it was not going to charge the “change” fee for travelers who are rescheduling.
“To minimise inconvenience to customers holding confirmed tickets for travel during the period September 05 – October 31, 2017, Caribbean Airlines is allowing persons whose travel plans are impacted by the hurricanes to rebook without change fees…”
However, these waivers are subject to conditions. Travellers must rebook for the same cabin for the period up to October 31, 2017.
“It is mandatory that customers contact Caribbean Airlines before the scheduled date of travel. Full refund of fare paid, for travel up to October 31, 2017. The refund must be requested by September 30, 2017.”
Caribbean Airlines advised that all changes must be made through its Caribbean Airlines call centres or at its ticket offices.
The waivers include travel to and from Miami International, USA; Orlando International, USA; Fort Lauderdale International, USA; V.C. Bird International, Antigua; Princess Juliana International, St. Maarten and Lynden Pindling International, Nassau, Bahamas.
Caribbean Airlines operates more than 600 weekly flights to 19 destinations in the Caribbean and North and South America. The airline’s fleet comprises Boeing 737-800 and ATR72-600 aircraft. Jointly owned by the people of Trinidad & Tobago and Jamaica, headquartered in Trinidad and Tobago, and with an operational base in Jamaica, Caribbean Airlines employs more than 1600 people.
