Dear Editor,
With the passing of the controversial Broadcast (Amendment) Bill it seems as if the Government, any Government, would get to propagandize to the Guyanese people for free on a daily basis.
I had thought that President David Granger was more in tuned with what Guyanese want.
That is, more press freedom; not less press freedom. Clearly, the Government should privatize NCN and Guyana Chronicle (both propaganda organs of the Government).
A free press informs the people, promotes discussion and impart understanding.
Only an autocratic Government would seek to control/restrict press freedom as both the PPP/C, PNC and now the APNU+AFC are guilty of doing. Let the people have their free press, Mr President.
