The Berbice Amateur Basketball Association 2017 Tournament for teams in Berbice and sponsored by Nigel Hinds Financial net continues Wednesday at Ithaca Basketball Court.
The improving Fyrish Black Sharks defeated home side Ithaca Hardliners 55-40.
The first quarter resulted in Fyrish leading 11-7, while at half time it was 29-20 and third quarter 39-29 to the final scoreline.
For Sharks, Linden Joseph had 17 points and 6 rebounds, Keenan Williams 14 points and 3 rebounds and Garfield Benjamin 6 points 2 rebounds.
For Hardliners Michael Chan led with 10 points 6 rebounds and 3 steals, Jahan Smith 8 points and 1 steal and Phlence Edwards 8 points 5 steals.
The competition will continue tomorrow at Fyrish Basketball Court from 16:00hrs with Rose Hall Town Jammers playing Fyrish Black Sharks in the first Semi-Finals.
Six teams are involved in the competition which is being played on a round Robin basis in two zones. Zone A includes Canje Knight, Fyrish Black Shark and Ithaca Hardliners, while Zone B comprises of Rose Hall Town Jammers, Hopetown Stealers and NA Warriors.
Trophies, cash and other incentives are up for grabs. The tournament is being organized by Vibert Garrett.
