The Nand Persaud Group of Companies through its Sky Plus Incorporated Promotion Group has organised a horserace meet for Sunday 20 August.
The event is slated for the Company’s racing facilities at No36 Village, Macedonia Estate, Corentyne, Berbice. The seven-race card has over $4M in cash, trophies and other incentives available.
The meet which is dubbed the “Nand Persaud Karibee Sprint Classic” will once again see the horses running in a straight line from start to finish. The races will be 880 and 660 yards.
The events listed for the day will see horses competing in the feature D and lower event over 880 yards for a winning purse of $400,000 and trophy.
The event for animals classified H and lower is for a top prize of $300,000 and trophy also over 880yards.
There is an event for 3 Years maiden and animals born and bred in Guyana over 660 yards for $220,000 prize. The J class and lower animals will be looking to heat up the track for a winning take of $200,000 and trophy over 660 yards.
The K and lower 660 yards event has a winning take of $140,000 and trophy.
The L Class and lower contest is expected to be a heated affair over 880 yards for the first prize of $100,000 and trophy.
The final event is expected to be for two year old animals or those classified LL and lower, and will be decided shortly.
Champion jockey, trainer and stable will all be rewarded with trophies and other incentives compliments of the Trophy Stall and the organisers. The Coordinator is Mohendra Persaud.
