The victim in last Saturday’s fatal crash on the Herstelling, East Bank Demerara (EBD) Public Road has been identified as 64-year-old Ingrid James.
James, of Lot 1294 Section “C” Block “Y” Golden Grove, EBD was identified a little after 13:00 hrs yesterday by her daughter, Ernecia Nicholson.
According to information received, James was struck down on Saturday by an alleged speeding driver, who has been arrested and is assisting investigation.
The police said that the driver of the vehicle, bearing registration number PKK 3251, was proceeding south along the eastern carriageway of the Herstelling Public Road at a fast rate when the victim, who was crossing from west to east, ended up in the path of the vehicle.
As a result of the accident, the 64-year-old woman’s left leg was severed and she also sustained injuries to the head and body.
She was taken to Diamond Diagnostic Centre where she was pronounced dead on arrival.
