The Tourism & Hospitality Association of Guyana, (THAG) has elected a new board which will serve for a one-year period, from 2017-2018.
The new board was appointed during the entity’s Annual General Meeting at
Roraima Duke Lodge on June 30 last.
The team is headed by reelected President of THAG, Mrs. Andrea de Caires of Atta Rainforest Lodge (Community and Tourism Services), Vice President; Kevin Daby, General Manager of Grand Coastal Inn (Hotel), Treasurer; Mitra Ramkumar, Finance Comptroller of Roraima Airways Inc., Committee Member; Alexandra Correia, a Market Research and Investor Relations Manager of Correia Group of Companies, Committee Member Davie Sukhdeo, Senior Sales Manager of Marriott Hotel Georgetown, Committee Member; Camille Boodhoo, Managing Director of Old Fort Tours & Angellina’s Travel Service and Committee Member Jacqueline Allicock, General Manager of Surama Eco-lodge, Surama Village.
In brief remarks, Mrs. de Caires described the newly elected Executive Council as a versatile mix of industry personnel.
“THAG’s focus, going forward endeavours to expand lobbying efforts with Government of Guyana and deliver more services to our membership – to support HRD initiatives, increase revenue streams for operations and identify opportunities for development. “
“The Executive’s contributions will be beneficial to the Association as they attend to the identified areas, address industry concerns and seek new prospects for expansion.”
THAG also re-appointed Ram & McRae as its Auditors for the new financial year.
THAG was formed twelve years ago by a small group of five persons. According to its mission statement, THAG is an umbrella body of all Tourism-related entities in Guyana. Members include hoteliers, resort owners, tour operators, travel agents, restaurants, jewellery and craft shops, transportation services among others. This association was formed twelve years ago by a small group of five persons.
THAG is also a member of the Caribbean Hotel Association.
