After defeating Port Kaituma United FC 1- 0 in the qualifying round, Citrus Grove FC,
led by Leroy Domingo defeated Sebai FC 5-4 on penalties to win the second annual Sebai’s FC Father’s Day football tournament which was contested recently at Sebai recreational ground, Region one.
Played in front of a vociferous and large crowd, the score was level 1-1 at the end of regulation time. Both teams found the back of the net once in the 30 minutes of extra time forcing the game into penalties.
With the score 5-4 in favour of the visitors, Citrus Grove FC goalkeeper Paul Smith silenced the hundreds of home fans when he saved a powerful shot, well executed by Sebai FC captain Dexroy Benjamin to hand his team victory which sparked wild celebrations among their fans dancing to DJ Bravo “champion” lyrics.
The victors took home $100,000. Smith was given the man of the match award.
