Eustace Harcourt, the stepfather of slain political activist, Courtney Crum -Ewing is refuting reports that he has taken steps to have a fresh investigation launched into the murder.
Harcourt is rebutting the information which was broadcast as part of an item on a Travis Chase newscast last evening. The man is denying speaking to any one from the newscast on the issue.
“We have not called on the Commission or the President to get a new investigation launched,” the peeved man told Kaieteur News, last evening.
Crum-Ewing’s bullet-riddled body was found on March 10, 2015, at Diamond, East Bank Demerara, where he had reportedly been urging residents to vote against the then ruling People Progressive Party Civic (PPP/C). His bull-horn was found next to his bloodied body.
One month later, 37-year-old Regan Rodrigues called “Grey Boy” was charged with the activist’s murder.
Rodrigues was discharged on September 14, 2016 after the Preliminary Inquiry was first conducted. He faced another investigation. In the latest development, the DPP, Shalimar Ali-Hack had ordered the Magistrate to review the case with a view to committing Rodrigues to stand trial at the High Court.
This was refused and Rodrigues was discharged a second time.
