-Cops probe suspected hit and run
The body of a 27-year-old man was discovered lying on the Marudi Public Road along the Soesdyke/Linden Highway around 07:15 hrs yesterday. The victim has been identified as Mukesh Tobin of Soesdyke.
While pieces of broken mirrors were found on the roadway—suggesting that Tobin might have been killed in a hit and run accident, the case is being dealt with by both the Criminal Investigation Unit and the Traffic Department of the Guyana Police Force (GPF).
Kaieteur News was informed that someone called and told the police that a body was on the public road.
When ranks visited the scene, the remains had already begun to stiffen, suggesting that Tobin might have been dead for some time.
“The ranks couldn’t tell whether there were any broken or fractured bones because his body was too stiff but there were abrasions,” a police source indicated while adding that a Post Mortem Examination will determine the cause of death.
This newspaper was informed that since the confusion involving the death of 26-year-old Faiyaz Narinedatt on November 1, last at Number 70 Village, Corentyne, both traffic ranks and detectives have been visiting scenes whenever a body is found.
Initially, Narinedatt’s death was ruled an accident but it was later determined that the carpenter was murdered and his body was dumped on the roadway to make it seem like an accident.
