Fitness Express, located at the corners of John and Sheriff Streets, Campbellville has continued its rich tradition of assisting local athletes in their quest for stardom. The latest to benefit is bodybuilder Yannick Grimes who is on course to compete for the second year at the Sportsworld Classic Invitational on Saturday June 24th at the NAPA in Frederick Street, POS, T&T.
Grimes, who last week made a plea for financial support to offset expenses associated with the trip received support from Manager Jamie McDonald yesterday as he aims to better last year’s second place finish.
In handing over a cheque to Grimes, McDonald said Fitness Express was more than proud to come to Grimes’ aid as he seeks to keep the Golden Arrowhead flying high in the Caribbean. A consistent supporter of athletes financially and by contributing supplements to them, McDonald noted that he, as an athlete too appreciates the challenges athletes are faced with in procuring sponsorship.
”We at Fitness Express are well aware of what athletes have to go through and we are happy to lend support to make their dreams come through. They train hard and follow a disciplined routine and it is only fair for them to be afforded the chance to be able to compete locally and overseas.”
McDonald, who just returned from the 4th annual Barbados IslandFit Games 2017 where he placed 19th following a shoulder injury; Guyanese Dillon Mahadeo placing second, wished Grimes every success in his bid to win outright this year.
Grimes, a member of Buddy’s Gym expressed thanks to McDonald and Fitness Express for their continued support informing that the entity has also been assisting him with supplements, consistently.
Two Sunday’s ago, Grimes copped the Overall crown in the Intermediate Classic category at the Guyana Amateur Powerlifting Federation / Fitness Express Intermediate/Masters Championships.
Persons wishing to assist Grimes can do so by contacting him on cell# 685 0704.
