Reigning South Zone champions Guyana started its Rugby Americas North (RAN) 15s campaign on a positive note with a 34-26 triumph over Barbados on Saturday, at the Garrison Savannah in Barbados.
Former Captain now Vice-captain Richard Staglon was in terrific form, ending over the tryline thrice to lead all scorers for the ‘Green Machine’, while support came from Vallon Adams, who recorded two tries and Ahmad Isaacs on his debut registering one.
Rickford Cummings converted twice for Guyana.
The Green Machine will next play rivals Trinidad and Tobago at the National Park Rugby Field in Georgetown on June 10, but before that the Trinis take on Barbados on May 27.
Meanwhile, Mexico, who defeated Guyana last year also won their engagement against Bermuda, beating them 59-7, while USA South beat Cayman Islands 39-5.
