Dear Editor,
I have been wanting to pen this letter for months, but somehow never got around to doing it until I ran into Ron recently and had a conversation with him which made it imperative that I express my dismay at the way he was dismissed from NCN. It is a shame that an Icon of broadcasting who has served radio for over 50 years can be terminated without any justification and nobody in authority says anything. How shocking!
Ron is one of the few surviving legends of broadcasting still with us today, I cannot fathom how an entity like NCN which is in short supply of good broadcasters and administrators can just let him go and not utilize his expertise while he is still alive and kicking. Maybe they are waiting for him to pass away then they can shower him with tributes and appreciation, who knows!
Ron has worked tirelessly alongside almost all of the giants of broadcasting including people of the calibre of Rafiq Khan, Pat Cameron, James Sidney, Carlton James, Fazil Azeez, Christopher Deen and many others and he has acquired a wealth of experience and knowledge that is an asset any organisation. It is my view that Ron Robinson is more than capable of being the CEO of NCN. In fact I think it was an insult to put him on probation. Times have changed, technology has evolved and I daresay that Ron has managed to adapt and evolve with the times.
A Diploma or Degree in Public Communications from UG should not be the only requirement for the job but as far as I know a CEO must have the ability and capacity to anchor the station in times of emergency, can the current CEO do that, I doubt it. I hope that the President reads this letter and takes decisive action for it appears that the Prime Minister under whose portfolio NCN falls just don’t seem to care. It is my understanding that Enrico Woolford and Margaret Lawrence are on the Board of NCN, I only hope that these two renowned Broadcasters can add their voices in support of Ron Robinson making a hasty return to NCN where his talent and expertise are needed now more than ever to prop up an ailing NCN.

By Sir Ronald Sanders (Kaieteur News) – When the two-week ceasefire between the United States and Iran was announced on 7th April, 2026, the immediate reaction across much of the world was relief.
