Grove A and B teams and Cardinals were among the successful teams when the Muslim Youth Organisation/Trophy Stall 7-a-side Tapeball competition continued on Sunday last in Woolford Avenue.
Grove A beat Queenstown by four wickets. Batting first Queenstown A made 44 for 4 in their allotted 6 overs. Fadil Ahamad made 25; Shazim Khan picked up 2 for 9. Grove A in reply scored 46 for 2 in 5.3 overs. Shafeek Ishmeal made 19 and Shazim Khan 18.
Grove B overcame Queenstown by three wickets.
Queenstown B batted first and managed 57 for 4 with Imran Khan scoring 14 and Majeed Khan making 11. Radrindra Motilall picked up 3 for 5. Grove B in reply made 58 runs for 3 wickets in 5.5 overs. Shohaib Roop got 20, Abbas Ali 14 and Khadir Manjoor 10.
Grove A defeated Grove B by 29 runs. Batting first, Grove A posted 83 for 4. Azeem Azeez made 27, Shazim Khan 17 and Shafeek Ishmae 14. Shahab Manjoor claimed 2 for 27. Grove B were limited to 54-3 in reply. Shohaib Roop made 20.
Cardinals got the better of Diamond/Grove by 52 runs. Cardinals batted first and made 88 for 4. Edwin Burnett hit 29 runs. Diamond/Grove were bundled out for 26 runs with Edwin Burnett and Karranchand Indarjit picking up two wickets each.
Cardinals beat Farnum B. Cardinals took first strike and scored 93 for 1. Vishun Merhai struck 47 not out and Burnett an unbeaten 39. Farnum B made 93 for 5 in response. Following the tie the teams contested a super over which was also tied, but Carninals were declared champions after hitting two sixes one more than Farnum B.
The competition continues tomorrow with the following fixtures.
At Diamond tarmac, Grove A vs Diamond/Grove, Grove B vs Diamond/Grove, Grove A vs Winsor Forest and Grove B vs Winsor Forest.
At MYO, 12:30 hrs Queenstown A vs Farnum A, 13:00 hrs Queenstown B vs Farnum B, 13:30 hrs Queenstown A vs Farnum B and 14:00 hrs Queenstown B vs Farnum A.
