Red Jet burns them up to take the double on wet day
Despite the inclement weather it was the Shariff Racing Stable that took charge of
proceedings on a wet and soggy day to win the feature event. The occasion was the Rising Sun one day Photo Finish horse Race meet held last Sunday at the Club’s track, Rising Sun, Arima Park, West Coast, Berbice.
However, despite the clammy and wet conditions there was no stopping Red Jet as it used the opportunity to burn its opponents into submission in winning two races.
Despite all of the above it was the Jumbo Jet Stable with two wins and some other placings that was adjudged champion stable of the day.
The adage that good things comes to those who wait and revenge is sweet is the talk of the Shariff stable at the moment. The stable being denied twice in the feature event in the last two race meets due to varying circumstances. This time there was no stopping the Shariff from taking control as they won the feature event with the ever improving Settling Star ridden by the experienced Yap Drepaul seizing the opportunity to enact revenge as it destroyed a top notch field to win the race for D3 and lower animals.
The animal trained by Zahir Shariff has been improving steadily over the years and is definitely one to watch. With a strong finish and crafty riding by the wily Drepaul, it blew past its opponents down the homestretch to take the $1M first prize and trophy compliments of Beverage Giants, Banks DIH Limited.
Nine animals took part in the event as Settling Star finished ahead of Just Call Me Boss and
