Fruta Conquerors and Buxton United were both in winner’s row when competition in the Guyana
Football Federation / Stag Elite League continued on Sunday night last at the Buxton Community Centre ground, East Coast Demerara.
Buxton, on account of goals on either side of play blanked fellow East Demerara counterparts Victoria Kings, 2-0. The match was by no means a walk in the park for the Buxtonians but they mustered the resolve to hit in goals, the Kings in their debut season at this level, failed to respond in like manner.
William Europe netted the first, five minutes before the half time whistle, with the sealer coming off the boot of Dillon Wright in the 89th minute.
Fruta Conquerors made light work of West Berbice’ Monedderlust, romping to a 3-1 win.
‘King’ Solomon Austin sent the juice boys into the early lead on four minutes and that was the only goal of the first half.
One of Conquerors’ leading marksmen, Eon Alleyne doubled the advantage in the 57th minute before Monedderlust reduced the deficit in the 67th minute thanks to an Akeemo Watts goal.
The Conquerors boys were not leaving anything to chance as they were not in the mood to share points. They restored their two goal cushion through Travis Thornhill’s 75th minute effort and eventually wrapped up victory at 3-1.
Is this oil a blessing or a curse?
