Unique hats, in a wide range of colours and with various designs were on display at the Promenade Gardens, when the Inner Wheel Club of Georgetown hosted their thirtieth annual hat show on Saturday.
Participants in the hat show competed in the ‘elegant, and ‘topical/comical’ catagories.
The winner in the children’s category for elegant hats went to Emily Fung-a-Fat; Alyssa Persaud captured the second place with her butterfly kisses hat and the third place went to Isabella St Aubyn.
In the Topical/Comical competition, Isabella St Aubyn was adjudged winner for her Pepper Pig Easter tea party hat. Second place was awarded to Shontay Hawker who donned an Easter Fest Hat, while Brianna St Aubyn copped third place for her bunny Easter Garden hat.
In the adult Elegant category, the first place winner was Sheila King with her Serenade of the Bells hat, while Andrea Bryan Garner captured second with her Guyana’s Green Garden.The third place went to Nadacia King for her Festive Blossoms hat.
For the adult topical/comical category, the first place went to Pamela Arthur, with her Promenade Serenity hat while Merle Stephens copped second place in her Easter Garden hat and third place went to Kimberly Manbodh for Bunny Deal.
The crowd was entertained by the Guyana Police Force band, while some of the children enjoyed face painting.
The money raised at the event will be used to carry out works in the community including maintaining the National Park Playground, providing scholarships for students and delivering food hampers to the elderly.
