-Motorcade, Courtesy Call on President among plans
The National Sports Commission (NSC) and Athletics Association of Guyana (AAG) will both welcome Guyana’s successful CARIFTA Games team home today with a planned motorcade and Courtesy Call on His Excellency,
President David Granger.
The team is expected to arrive at the Cheddi Jagan International Airport aboard COPA Airlines today at 2pm. Director of Sport, Christopher Jones and AAG President, Aubrey Hutson among other officials will be at the airport to receive the team.
The motorcade will depart the airport at 2:45 pm with police escort leaving the airport road and travelling north along the East Bank Demerara Highway, right on to Industrial Site Ruimveldt, east on to Mandela Avenue, west on to Homestretch Avenue, on to Croal Street, north on to Ornoque Street, west onto South Road, north on to Shiv Chanderpaul Drive.
The motorcade will stop at the Ministry of the Presidency where the contingent will pay a Courtesy Call on President Granger, scheduled for 3:30 pm.
Following the Courtesy Call, the motorcade will proceed north on to Shiv Chanderpaul Drive west on to Regent Street, south onto the Avenue of the Republic, west onto Brickdam travelling around the Linden bus park, north onto the Avenue of the Republic onto Main Street to High Street, Kingston ending at the Olympic House, Kingston.
A press release said that there will be a short media briefing at Olympic House. The athletes will be Guests of Honour at the NSC Sports Awards Ceremony, scheduled to be held in the Savannah Suite of the Pegasus Hotel beginning at 7pm.
