The body of a commercial sex worker was found on the bed of a city hotel yesterday morning, hours after she checked in with a male companion.
The woman, whose name has been given only as “Medusi,” was discovered dead around 09:00hrs at John’s Beer Garden when police broke into a room she was occupying after she had failed to respond to hotel workers who went to inform her that her allotted time had expired.
Her body was taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital where she was pronounced dead. It is suspected that the woman suffered a heart attack. No marks of violence were found on her body.
Owner of the hotel, Owen John, said that the woman was a regular visitor to the location, and it appeared that before she died, she had been smoking narcotics in the room.
He explained that the woman died after her companion had left, since shortly after, hotel staffers heard a pipe being turned on and off and that was around 08:00 hrs, also the door was locked from the inside.
The woman was said to be in her 40s.
