The Guyana Squash Association (GSA) is holding the Toucan Distributors Junior Skill level
tournament its first Junior tournament for 2017 at the Georgetown Club Inc. courts and play continued on Friday night, the penultimate day, at the Georgetown Club Inc. courts with matches in all eight categories.
In category A Shomari Wiltshire playing in his first match of the tournament was up against Alex Cheeks, who the previous night had defeated Taylor Fernandes. Shomari easily won the first game 11 – 4 and took the second game 11 – 6. The third game was closer but Shomari closed out the match with an 11 – 7 win.
In Category B Samuel Ince-Carvalhal had an easy straight set win against Maya Collins with the scores being 11 – 3, 11 – 1, 11 – 2, while Rebecca Low was made to work harder but eventually defeated Sarah Lewis 11 – 8, 11 – 9, 11 – 5.
In category C Abosaide Cadogan showed how much she is improving when she beat her training partner Madison Fernandes in straight games 11 – 7, 13 – 11, 11 – 4, while Kirsten Gomes easily defeated her cousin Jason Gomes 11 – 7, 11 – 3, 11 – 3. Lucas Jonas had his first win in the category when he overcame Aliyah Persaud 12 – 10, 12- 10, 11 – 6.
Results in the other categories were as follows.

Zachary Persaud defeated Louis Da Silva 11 – 4, 11 – 7, 11 – 7
Category E
Nicholas Verwey defeated Liam Carpenter 11 – 4, 11 – 9
Chad De Abreu defeated Shiloh Asregado 7 – 11, 11 – 8, 11 – 6
Category F
Beau Fernandes beat Isabella Ramjohn 11 – 9, 11 – 8
Osmond Mack defeated Teija Edwards 11 – 4, 11 – 9
Category G
Dhiren Persaud beat Lucas Persaud 11 – 6, 11 – 2
Aishani Persaud beat Angel Rahim 11 – 5, 11 – 7
Category H
Christiana Fernandes beat Grant Fernandes 9 – 11, 11 – 7, 11 – 8
The final matches were played last evening.
