With the four-match t20 series ending on Sunday with a 3-1 victory for Pakistan, the sides now turn their attention to one of the most important ODI series for the West Indies with their automatic qualification for the next World Cup on the line.
In what fans expects to be keenly contested affair, the two most unpredictable teams in International cricket go head-to-head at Providence in the three-game ODI series starting on Friday.
Both teams arrived in Guyana yesterday at the Cheddi Jagan International Airport, Timehri on a Caribbean airline chartered Flight BW 8000 at 13:55 hours, leaving both teams with just three days to prepare for what is anticipated to be a pulsating series.
West Indies will know that losing this series could badly hurt their hopes of automatic qualification for the World Cup so there is plenty to play for by the home team. The ODIs will be played on the recently resurfaced pitches at the Stadium which the curators says should fast and bouncy.
Guyanese would be anxious to see Pakistan play in their first ODI series in the Caribbean since the five-match series which the visitors won 3-1 in 2013.
In addition to Friday’s opener, the series continue on Sunday when the largest crowd is expected before concluding on Tuesday. All matches commence at 09:30hrs.
West Indies, which included home boy Devendra Bishoo in their side, has the home advantage but will also depend on large crowds to urge them on. The cost for admission is $4,000 for the Stands and $2,000 for mound. Tickets and Car passes can be bought online or at the Guyana Cricket Board office on Regent Street, Bourda between 08:00hrs and 18:00 hours on all days preceding the match dates.
Spectators are encouraged to uplift their tickets before the match days so as to reduce the congestion at the ground entrances of the Stadium where stringent security measures will be in effect.
