Regus Lamazon and Samuel McIntyre were yesterday discharged by City Magistrate Dylon Bess
following a Preliminary Inquiry into the murder of Orin David called ‘Malik’ who was shot and killed on August 1, 2016, in front of his Laing Avenue home.
Magistrate Bess ruled that there was insufficient evidence to link the duo to the offence due to the fact that none of the prosecution’s 12 witnesses were able to tell the court that it was indeed Lamazon and McIntyre that shot David. As such, he discharged the matter and instructed the men that they were free to go.
According to reports, 33-year-old David, a former murder accused and father of five, of 89 Laing Avenue, Georgetown, was shot and killed during a heated argument he had with some men over money.
According to reports, David had confrontations several times with a man from Agricola, East Bank Demerara, whom he had bailed out of jail.
It is alleged that Lamazon and McIntyre were among four persons that drove up in front of David’s home in two vehicles and executed him.
After Magistrate Bess reviewed the evidence led by the Prosecution, he told the court that there was no evidence that Lamazon and McIntyre inflicted injuries upon David, although they were seen in his presence.
The Magistrate further pointed out that the prosecution relied on 10 photographic exposures and a post mortem report in favour of David which revealed that he died as a result of gunshot wounds.
Meanwhile, 24-year-old Howard Rambharose and Jermaine Jeffers are still before the courts for allegedly murdering David.
A preliminary inquiry into their matter is being presided over by another Magistrate in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts.
Rambharose was previously charged with robbery under arms and narcotics trafficking.
