Regal, Farm and Ariel recorded victories when the Regal Sport 20-over Softball tournament
commenced on Sunday last in the city. At DCC, Regal Masters beat HS Masters by 23 runs. Batting first, Regal Masters scored 133-5. Lyndon Lyght struck 38 while Rudolph Baker contributed 32. Mark Ifill claimed 2-25.
HS Masters were bowled out 110 in 19.1 overs. Clyde Hoyte made 33; Eric Thomas claimed 4-13 and Laurie Singh 2-14.
Farm got the better of Mosiah XI by five wickets. Mosiah XI took first strike and sent packing for 125 in 10 overs. Saeej Ajmal made 20; Ameer Khan captured 3-21 and Rawl Reid 2-14. Farm responded with 130-5 in 11 overs. Reid stroked 51 and Khan 23.
At Gandhi Youth Organisation, Farm overcame Friends XI by seven wickets. Friends were sent packing for 90 in 9.2 overs, taking first strike. Ameer Khan bagged 5-20 and Rawl Reid 3-13. Farm replied with 91-3 in 9.3 overs. Reid hit 31 and Asif Ally 22.
Ariel defeated Amazon Warriors by six wickets. Amazon Warriors took first turn at the crease and scored 179 all out in 19 overs. A. Persaud and S. Fizul made 29 and 27 respectively. S. Dharmendra had 3-15 while Surujnauth Kumar took 3-20. Ariel replied with 182-4 in 13 overs. Fazal Ally struck 81 not out and Vinoo Lall made an unbeaten 33.
The competition continues on Sunday with Regal Masters playing Success Masters at 10:00hrs and Amazon Warriors facing Success Masters at 13:00hrs at GNIC SC. At GYO, HS Masters will take on Savage at 10:00hrs and Ariel will face Mike’s Wellman at 13:00hrs.
At DCC from 09:30hrs on pitch one, Speed XI will play Good Hope, Success XI will entertain AJ Hustlers at 12:00hrs and Queenstown Masjid will battle Mosiah XI at 14:00hrs. On pitch two at 09:30hrs Pigeon XI will battle Farm, Regal will match skills with Good Hope at 12:00hrs and Brickery XI will challenge Unstoppable at 14:30hrs.
