National Milling Company (NAMILCO) became the latest entity to offer support for the Petra Organisation / GT Beer Futsal Competition following a confirmation ceremony that was conducted yesterday, at its Head Office,

Finance Controller of the Company Fitzroy McLeod handed over the second place prize worth $200,000 to Petra Organisation Co-Director Troy Mendonca in the presence of officials from both organisations.
McLeod speaking at the occasion spoke of the strong relationship between the two entities, informing that though the particular event is just two years old, the bond goes back much further.
Mendonca in his response thanked the Company for its unwavering support for the Organisation and its programmes, adding that it clearly demonstrates the entity’s commitment to uphold its social responsibility.
He said the timely goodwill displayed by NAMILCO will go a far way in ensuring that the tournament is a success, while also allowing teams from within the competing communities to interact with each other and at the same time help foster better relationships among the participants.
He added that his Organisation has been promoting a lot of football activities that involves communities and among the primary reasons are to help eradicate many of the social ills that affect those neighbourhoods as well as improve the skills and organisational expertise of the residents.
The tournament is being staged at the National Gymnasium and last evening the final round of fixtures in the group stage was expected to be played. The winning team will receive $400,000 and the championship trophy, while second, third and fourth placed teams take home $200,000, $100,000 and $50,000 respectively.
The teams that were invited included: champions Bent Street, Festival City, Stevedore Housing Scheme, Sparta Boss, Tiger Bay, Albouystown, North Ruimveldt, West Back Road, Leopold Street, West Front Road, Sophia, Agricola, Showstoppers, Alexander Village, Broad Street, Camp Street All Stars, Kitty, Globe Yard, Channel 9 Warriors, Hustlers, North East La Penitence, Back Circle, Campbellville and Tucville. The tournament ends April 15.
