-MVP, Highest Goalscorer, Best Goalkeeper to be rewarded
Former national cricketer Lennox Cush, who is the Managing Director of Star Party Rentals once again, demonstrated his support for sport when he acquiesced to a request made by the Petra Organisation to reward outstanding
individual performances in this year’s Futsal Tournament, currently being staged in collaboration with GT Beer.
Star Party Rentals is no stranger to the organisation, having offered its assistance many times in the past and has a very strong relationship with the Organisers.
Yesterday, during a simple presentation ceremony, Star Party Rentals Representative Pheona Jones handed over a cheque for an undisclosed sum to Co-Director of the Organisation Troy Mendonca, at the entity’s Head Office on Craig Street in Campbellville.
Mendonca in response said the support will go towards rewarding the Most Valuable Player (MVP), Best Goal Keeper and Highest Goal Scorer of the tournament.
MVP of the championship will collect $50,000 and a trophy, while the Highest Goal Scorer and Best Goalkeeper will receive $25,000 each and trophies.
“On behalf of the Petra Organisation, the football nation and the competing communities, we want to thank Lennox Cush and Star Party Rentals for their timely donation to the Petra Organisation Futsal Championship,” Mendonca stated.
He applauded the continued support of the entity towards the sporting fraternity, adding that they’ve managed to honour their social responsibility and the contribution will go a long way in the tournament.
Mendonca paid recognition to the discipline and organisational expertise of the competing teams which has been on show throghout the tournament.
The tournament is being staged at the National Gymnasium and will resume tomorrow with the final round of fixtures in the group stage.
The winning team will receive $400,000 and the championship trophy, while second, third and fourth placed teams take home $200,000, $100,000 and $50,000 respectively.
The tournament ends April 15.
