After 30 years of dedication and commitment to teaching, 16 teachers were shown appreciation for their long service at the St. Francis Community Developers Conference Hall on Wednesday last.
The Department of Education in collaboration with the Region Six Democratic Council held its Regional Award Ceremony to recognize the service of teachers and the outstanding performances of learners.
The awardees came from the Nursery, Primary and Secondary schools The award ceremony also catered for the “Oustanding Performances” of pupils who sat National Grades Two, Four and Six Examinations.
Top Performers at Caribbean Examinations Council (CSEC) and Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examination (CAPE) were also acknowledged.
Two pupils were awarded as Top Performers for the National Grade Two Assessment, four pupils for the National Grade Four Assessment and ten for the National Grade Six Assessment.
Eleven students were awarded for outstanding academic performances at the Caribbean Examinations Council and two for their performance at the CAPE.
Tenesha Innis of Lighttown Primary was awarded for her top performance at CPCE New Amsterdam Centre.
Among persons who were also awarded were 19 retirees.
