Dear Editor,
Many years ago a senior citizen posed the following question to me; what is the shortest street known in Georgetown? I never knew the answer and I was educated that ‘PICCADILLY STREET’ is the shortest street and it can be found as the street going east to west or west to east between the ‘Astor and Globe Cinemas.’
I have no idea how accurate this information is because I have never seen any written document to support what I was told. Perhaps, if anyone has any documented information and is willing to come forward and share, I would appreciate their time and effort. A short while ago I was in the vicinity of the Astor Cinema and I didn’t noticed the name ‘Piccadilly Street.’
I took a photo which should be of interest to the general public in understanding where exactly my enquiry is leaning towards.
