Lindeners yesterday took to the streets in their numbers, some to gyrate and flounce behind the few floats and others to line the roadways to watch the colorful spectacle.
Beginning a bit late due to inclement weather earlier in the day, the parade kicked off on the Mackenzie shore at the Linden/ Georgetown bus park and wended its way across the Mackenzie/Wismar Bridge to the Bayroc Community Centre Ground, where it culminated in party mode.
While residents look forward to Mashramani every year, many are of the view that more needs to be done in the mining town with regards to the celebration of the event.
Ironically, Linden, the place where Mashramani was conceptualized and first celebrated, is among the last to take to the streets in celebration of the nation’s 47th anniversary as a Republic. (Enid Joaquin)
