– Claims they were drinking wine earlier
Detectives are waiting on a Post Mortem (PM) examination before they proceed with their investigation into the death of a 47-year-old female farmer at Shulinab village in Rupununi, Region Nine on Sunday.
The victim has been identified as Justil Leonard of Shulinab village. Her husband has been taken into police custody.
According to information received, the couple was consuming wine at a shop and then left to go home.
The victim’s husband told the police that he walked straight home, leaving his partner behind. He then claimed that when he reached home, he realized that he did not have the keys and decided to walk back and meet his wife.
Kaieteur News was informed that the man claimed that while walking back to meet with his wife, he found her lying lifeless on the roadway. Blood was on the woman’s face. It is unclear if she fell and hit her head or whether she was struck to the head.
Investigators are hoping that the PM will shed more light as to the cause of death.
