Beverage giant Banks DIH Limited, the pacesetters, which is one of the biggest companies in Guyana, continues to set the pace for its outstanding performance. Despite the many challenges in uncertain global conditions,
the beverage giant has once again risen to meet the challenge by surpassing the previous year’s target.
While others have been shrinking and closing some operations, Banks DIH has been expanding its operations, mainly by bringing out new products and seeking new markets.
The Berbice Branch recently held the shareholders meeting. The meeting was the 22nd in the Ancient County and was held on the lawns of the Company’s Berbice head office at Main and Peter D’Aguiar (New Street) Streets, New Amsterdam.
The main speaker once again was Chairman and Managing Director, Mr. Clifford Reis.
Mr. Reis said that the last financial year saw many challenges that affected the company in a negative way, among them the continued sluggish global and national economy recovery.
He encouraged shareholders not to become despondent. He said that the company continues to implement new strategies including being more efficient, introducing new technology, including the using of robots among other innovations.
The Berbice Branch has been a tower of strength and a success story for the company, he said.
The branch surpassed last year’s sales by three percent, generating revenue of $2.6 billion against the previous year’s sales of $2.5 billion, an increase of $73M.
In terms of physical sales the Company sold 1,685,433 cases, an increase of 16,521 cases.
The New Amsterdam Qik Serv sold $108M, a five percent increase over last year’s sale of $102M.
Long Serving Berbice Branch Manager, Reginald Matthews, once again chronicled the success of the Berbice Branch, stating that success comes from proper planning and hard work.
He said, “With the continued prevailing economic turmoil facing the world and the non-performance of sugar and rice, your company continues to prosper. Team work being our main ingredient in succeeding.”
He praised the leadership of the Chairman and Managing Director Clifford Reis, the board of Directors and Executive staff for the high and efficient quality of leadership.
Matthews continued, “Your company strives for perfection; we want what is best for you. We set the pace by venturing out into new export markets, investing our resources wisely, thus earning above average returns.
As a company we are future thinking- Quoting the words of Abraham Lincoln who said that “things may come to those who wait, but only the things left by those who hustle.”
“With the fierce competition we are experiencing, your company will continue to leave things for those who wait.”
The leadership team of Banks DIH Limited was applauded for their dynamic leadership of the company.
Banks DIH continues to show its benevolence to all parts and aspects of Guyanese lives which makes it a truly Guyanese company.
It once again presented two schools in Berbice with cheques to assist them with their development.
This year the Port Mourant Primary and Secondary Schools were the beneficiaries.
The activity was chaired by Co Managing Director Mr. George Mc Donald while the vote of thanks was delivered by Berbice sales Manager Joshua Torrezao.
