A Board of Inquiry has been established to investigate a rape allegation against three soldiers.
The incident reportedly occurred at Camp Stephenson, an army base in Timehri, East Bank Demerara.
According to the Guyana Defence Force, it is in receipt of an allegation of rape against three of its ranks.
The statement did not immediately give details or state where the alleged incident occurred.
However, army sources said that attention is focused at Camp Stephenson.
“A Board of Inquiry has since been convened to ascertain the facts and to determine whether the crime was committed. Meanwhile, the ranks are assisting the police with their investigations.”
The army said it remains committed to the preservation of law and order and will deal condignly with all transgressors.
