As competition continues tomorrow with one more game, the Hopetown Stealers of West Coast Berbice have been added to the list of teams participating in the annual Anamayah Memorial Basketball Competition in Berbice. After first indicating their unavailability to be a part of the competition the team from the West Coast Berbice have now indicated that they are ready to participate.
Six teams are now in the competition with the teams now divided into two groups.
Defending Champions Fyrish Black Sharks, Rose Hall Town Jammers Basketball Club and Hope Town will now make up one group. While the two New Amsterdam teams -Smythfield Rockers, New Amsterdam Warrior and Ithaca Hardliners of West Bank Berbice makes up the other group.
The competition continues tomorrow with rivals New Amsterdam Warriors and Smythfield Rockers matching skill from 16:00hrs on the Vryman’s Erven Basketball Court.
The competition began last Sunday with the improving Rose Hall Town Jammers sinking defending Fyrish Black Sharks 43-35 in a keenly contested encounter.
The top two teams from each group will qualify for the semifinals, where the winner will play the runner up of the other group. The two winners will then contest the final and the losers play for third place.
At stake in the competition will be cash and other incentives for the winning and runner-up teams and other outstanding players.
