Police ranks of the Narcotics Branch stationed at the Cheddi Jagan International Airport (CJIA), Timehri at 0630h yesterday, arrested a female outgoing passenger who was on a flight to Toronto, Canada.
According to the police, she was arrested after four parcels of cocaine were found in her suitcase.
The substance was tested, weighed and amounted to 4,178 grams. The woman was taken into custody and is assisting with the investigation.
Meanwhile, ranks in ‘B’ Division (Berbice) conducted several raids in the Fort Ordinance Housing Scheme, East Canje area, where a quantity of cannabis was discovered concealed in a red washing tub. The substance amounted to 7,748 grams.
Two suspects are now in custody assisting with the investigation, the police said.
