It appears that a Bagotstown, East Bank Demerara home has somehow ended up in the
crosshairs of drivers.
Yesterday morning, shortly after 04:00hrs, a Toyota Allion, PVV 5542, crashed through the fence of Lot 35 Public Road, Bagotstown. It levelled part of the fence and a shed in the yard.
The car ended up on its side. The driver was taken out and rushed to the hospital.
Police are investigating whether alcohol played a role in the crash. The car was badly damaged.
It would have been the fourth accident in the last five years to the property, said home owner, Faizal Razak, 42. He lives there with wife, daughter and mother-in-law.
However, none would have been as spectacular like the one in August, 2011. A speeding driver ended up in the top flat of the same house, belly-up.
Razak later said he was left in shock when he saw the car ‘parked’ in his upstairs living room and the driver and three passengers screaming for help.
The court had ordered the driver, Robin Persaud to pay $800,000 in compensation to the Razack family.
Yesterday, emergency crews from the Guyana Power and Light Inc. (GPL) were seen replacing two posts that were damaged.
It is unclear what exactly is causing the problem as the road in front of Razak’s home is on a straight stretch. However, there are theories that drivers are taking the turn at Eccles, the neighbouring village, too fast and are unable to control their speed when entering Bagotstown.
