No one has been arrested as detectives continue to probe the fatal shooting of newly-wed Matthew Scott shortly after 23:00 hrs on Tuesday in front of his North East La Penitence home.
Investigations reveal that the 27-year-old mechanic was rushing to his sister’s aid when he was gunned down during what is being described as a robbery.
Reports are that the man’s sister was sitting at the front of the house when a tinted car drove up alongside her and two men exited the vehicle.
This newspaper was informed that one of the men grabbed the young woman’s phone and was about to enter the vehicle when she began screaming.
Scott, who only tied the knot last month, dashed to his sister’s aid but was shot to the chest as the gunmen escaped in the waiting car.
The injured man was rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital where he succumbed while receiving treatment.
Kaieteur News understands that the young man was gunned down a few hours after he learnt the sex of his unborn child.
