Nicholas Ali and Priyanna Ramdhani claimed the Open titles when the curtains came down on the Woodpecker Products Annual Badminton Christmas Singles tournament which started on Saturday and concluded on Sunday
last at the National Gymnasium along with the Presentation which was done by NSC Director Christopher Jones, Ms. Shuffler and Guyana Badminton Association (GBA) Executives – Mr. Gokarn Ramdhani, Mr. Nicholas Waldron, Mr. Darrell Carpenay & Ms. Emelia Ramdhani.
This is the 7th year for this tournament and the GBA is extremely happy that Ms. Fernandes of Woodpecker Products made it possible in assisting with the development of Badminton and Sports in Guyana. The association is also extending thanks to Banks DIH for providing refreshments.
The Finals that were played off on Sunday were:
Under-11 Boys Singles Finals:
Omar Samad defeated Jeremy: 21-19, 11-21 18-21 in a tough three setter.
Under-13 Girls Singles Finals:
Lesha Singh defeated Elesa Sangster: 21-16, 21-8
Under-19 Ladies Singles Finals:
Priyanna Ramdhani defeated Ambika Ramraj; 21-8, 21-4
Open Men Singles Finals:
Nicholas Ali defeated Javid Rahaman: 21-16, 21-14
Open Ladies Singles Finals:
Priyanna Ramdhani defeated Ambika Ramraj: 21-12, 21-13
