A biker and a drunken pedestrian were killed at around 20.00 hrs yesterday during a bizarre accident at Liliendaal, East Coast Demerara.
The biker has been identified as 25-year-old Frank De Florimonte Jr. of Prince Williams Street, Plaisance, East Coast Demerara.
The other man, who was found lifeless on the parapet is yet to be identified.
Kaieteur News understands that De Florimonte left home and was heading to the seawalls on motorcycle CH 7805, with a group of other bikers when the accident occurred.
He was proceeding west along the southern carriageway of the East Coast Demerara thoroughfare at a fast rate of speed when he slammed into the pedestrian, who was attempting to cross over to the northern carriageway.
De Florimonte’s body was pitched some distance from the point of impact and ended up in the middle of the road.
From all indications, he sustained severe injuries to his head.
One of the bikers said they had left De Florimonte’s home and were riding to the seawalls.
He related that the other bikers sensed something was amiss when they arrived at the seawalls and De Florimonte failed to show up.
The biker said they rode back and discovered De Florimonte’s body on the road. As word broke of De Florimonte’s demise his weeping relatives arrived at the scene.
“Ow Junior, Ow junior. Get up, get up!”, a woman said as she collapsed and lay on the biker’s corpse.
She removed a piece of clothing covering his face and began hitting the road.
De Florimonte’s father, Frank stood in shock as onlookers surrounded his son’s body. He said he spoke with his son yesterday afternoon at their home. The grieving father said that someone came to his home and told him that his was killed in an accident.
