The truncated second day of the Day/Night Digicel Regional First-Class match last night at Providence between the Guyana Jaguars and the Barbados Pride was called off the wet ground condition at Tea which was scheduled
for 21:00hrs.
Play was stopped by rain at 18:30hrs resulting in the entire last two sessions being washed out with the visitors on 48-2. Shai Hope (20) has so reached the boundary twice while Shamar Brook is on 10 and their team still 263 runs away from the Jaguars’ 311.
Earlier, a sharp shower delayed the start of play by 90 minutes and the left-handed Anthony Alleyne, who made 88 and 186 in the second round against T&T, got going with consecutive back foot punches for cover boundaries off Raymon Reifer before slashing the left-arm pacer to gully in the fourth over with the score on 15-1.
Kraigg Braithwaite (6) attempted an out of character hook when Keon Joseph bowled short and gloved a catch to the Keeper two runs and one over later and the Bajans were in early trouble as the sun reappeared.
Shai Hope came out with a positive mind set and smashed Reifer to the cover boundary and along with Shamar Brooks carried the score to 48-2 by the extended Dinner break. Hope was on 20 and Brooks, a former West Indies U-19 Captain, unbeaten on 10.
