The business end of the 3rd Annual Smalta Girls Pee Wee Football Competition will begin in earnest today with quarter-final action slated for the Ministry of Education ground, Carifesta Avenue.
In the first two matches, St. Margaret’s will take on Enterprise, while reigning champion St. Stephen’s collide with St. Angela’s at 11:30hrs. In the other two last eight encounters, at 12:15hrs, North Georgetown square off against St. Pius, while West Ruimveldt and St. Agnes do battle for a place in the semis.
Prior to the commencement of those games, the 9-16 positional section will begin from 10:00hrs.
In the opening round of matches, South Ruimveldt engage Smith Memorial and St. Gabriel’s is pitted against Winfer Gardens.
The second segment of matches will see Tucville do battle with Stella Maris and Redeemer square off with F.E. Pollard from 10:45hrs. According to the Organisers, action continues on Monday with semi-final play set for the same venue.
The winning team will receive the championship and medals, while the second, third and fourth placed finishers will also be rewarded with prizes. There will also be prizes for outstanding individual performances such as the Most Valuable Player (MVP), Highest Goalscorer and Best Goalkeeper. The Ministries of Public Health and Education are also on board.
