Leonie Thurton on Monday appeared in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court before Magistrate Madan Kissoon to answer to the charge of assault.
The charge read that on November 23, last, at Second Street, Agricola, she threatened Eon Thomson.
Thurton, pleaded not guilty to the charge at a sitting of the Night Court in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts.
The 64-year-old, who resides at Lot 79 Brutus Street, Agricola, East Bank Demerara, was placed on $10,000 bail.
Upon hearing that she was placed on bail, the woman told the court that she does not work anywhere and does not have any money to pay.
According to the facts presented on the day in question, the Virtual Complainant who is the nephew of the defendant was at the same address where they both reside. On the day in question the Virtual Complainant refused to do any chores and an argument erupted; the defendant threatened him. Immediately, he made a report to the Police Station.
Thompson was not present in court for the hearing of the matter.
Thurton made several attempts to address the Court but was not given the chance to do so, rather she was told to go sit on the prisoners’ bench. But even then she refused to be quiet.
She returned to court yesterday.
