Dear Editor,
Now that the AFC has announced that the party’s National Conference will be held in January 2017, it leaves many to ponder as to its truthfulness. A few months back, the party General Secretary said that the National Conference will be before the year is out, that is a lie. The AFC knows that they have lost around 60% of their support nationally and here in Berbice they have lost almost 50% of their supporters. Those that hold on to the AFC are the ones that have no support or have nowhere to go.
In Berbice since Ramayya exited, we hardly hear of the AFC and its work. The AFC should be ashamed to say that it has support in Berbice. They have betrayed their supporters and people that voted for them in Berbice. Look at the recent appointment of the REO; it’s a conflict of interest. She is related to one of the PNC top brass that sits on the RDC and holds a very senior position within the health administration.
What is the AFC doing? The AFC during the elections campaign, stated on TV programs said, that 60% of the positions belongs to the AFC in region 6. Well maybe they missed the math and included the 0% at the back of the 6%, because all the AFC has is 6% RDC councillors. The REO and DREO in Region 6 are with the PNC\APNU. AFC has no one representing the people in Region 6. The MP they put there is non-supportive of the residents of Berbice. He is never available to listen and assist with the issues of the people. He is busy making money for himself and forgot the people that put him and the AFC there.
The PM’s Rep only represents those in high positions and those that have big businesses. He forgot that he is a Regional Councillor also and needs to represent all the people of Berbice. It is shocking that he cannot fill the spot of Dr. Ramayya. I have asked the Hon. PM to come clean on this man’s curriculum vitae but to date the PM has not responded. The AFC has nothing to offer the people of Berbice or Guyana anymore. It is a party that will now hold on to the PNC\APNU’s coat tail so that it can maintain its positions and benefits in Government. The AFC is a dead party.
How much jobs have the AFC created for its party fighters in Berbice, in Regions 5 and 6? They have neglected their own supporters in every way possible. They shamelessly come to Berbice and show their faces as if they care; hell no they don’t! Region 6 is a dead pond for the AFC. They have neglected almost all of their supporters and fighters. I was told that AFC in Region 5 is now a private political party based in Hopetown and run by some that can hardly talk for their survival.
Where is the voice of Mr. Abel Seetaram, who highlights things when it goes wrong in the region? Seems that he was put to shut up by the PM and crew for standing up for the people and his supporters’ rights. I agree with the PM to fire him because he talks too much for his people. He defends them too much and the PM and AFC don’t want that, they want those that can suck up to their nasty work.
I am challenging Mr. Seetaram to come out and speak up against the injustices being done by the AFC to its supporters. As a young man, I know you have lots of followers more than Moses Nagamootoo, Khemraj Ramjattan and the entire leadership of the AFC. Therefore for you to maintain the support now is the time to speak up and challenge the leadership of your party. Where are the voices of people like Mark Ross, Devindra Sookraj, Johnson and others? Are they falling for the deception and lies of the party leaders? Or were they given top notch government positions to shut up?
The AFC is a party that is now facing lots of challenges, be it to regain confidence in the hearts of the people and its lost supporters, be it maintaining its grounds, be it getting more support in having an energetic and dynamic leadership structure. The AFC leadership has miserably failed its supporters and members. They are at the cross roads and that is why they have decided to have the national conference out of the constitutional timeframe which is every two years. In a next letter I will surely outline some of the positions and who should be the holder of those positions.
