Dear Editor,
Damning allegations of human/civil rights violation are being levelled against the Bartica Town Council as it decided to forcefully remove one of its longest serving and dedicated employee, Mark Royden, who was living within the compound of the former Bartica Neighbourhood Democratic Council for over ten years.
The new Bartica Town Council’s heartless decision and inhumane attitude has now decided to remove Mr Royden from within the compound of its office, the only place he knew as home for the past decade. Mr. Royden new home is now in the Byderabo Dump Site. It is shameful and beyond sad that the Bartica Town Council, which comprises both senior and junior pastors who live within Bartica could agree to such a heartless decision.
The attitude and high level of pomposity by the Town Clerk and Mayor of Bartica leave much to be desired.
I strongly feel that such action by the Town Council should be met with the strongest of objection and condemnation from Barticians and Ministry of Communities. I hope that the relevant authorities are taking note of the Council’s unbecoming attitude and behaviour and take the necessary steps to curb this ever growing authoritarian attitude.
Sherwyn Delano Downer
