Joel Chapman yesterday appeared before Magistrate Fabayo Azore to answer to a charge of possession of narcotics.
It is alleged that on October 19, last, at Lodge, Georgetown, he had in his possession 14 grams of cannabis.
The 37-year-old miner pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Attorney Kezia Williams, who represented the defendant, told the court that her client is the sole breadwinner for his two children. Williams asked that reasonable bail be granted to her client, citing that he had a semi stroke in June 2016 and has no prior matter in any other court.
Police Prosecutor Simone Payne objected to bail based on the seriousness and prevalence of the offence.
Chapman was placed on $50,000 bail and will make his next court appearance on November 30.
