Dear Editor;
With the recent release of the evidence of various inflated prices with regards to the radio sets, pliers and toners etc. at the secretariat level of Gecom, I feel it is right for the auditors to probe the transactions of the individuals (supervisors, Registration Officer, etc) who were responsible for the various regions (in particular Region Five).
When it comes to the ordering of food and arrangement of transportation for the polling day staff, the Registration Officers (ROs) would write up their own quotations to ensure the preferred caterers got the contract and then set the prices high, so they could get a draw back from the caterers. I challenge the auditors to check the quotations for last year’s general elections and this year’s local government elections and they will find signature discrepancies.
