Delson Wade appeared before Magistrate Judy Latchman, in the Georgetown Magistrate Court, on Wednesday, to answer to the charges of illegal gun and ammunition possession.
The court heard that on October 6, the defendant had in his possession three live .380 rounds of ammunition when not being the holder of a firearm licence.
It was also alleged that on the same day in question he had in his possession one .380 pistol when he was not a licenced firearm holder. The 30-year-old man, pleaded not guilty to both charges when they were read to him.
According to the facts presented by Police prosecutor, Shawn Gonsalves, on the day in question a search was conducted by police officers and the items were found in his possession.
The Police Prosecutor said that the defendant was previously charged in another court for illegal firearm possession.
The father of five when given a chance to address the court, said that he spent five days in the lock-ups and did not understand what is going on. He said when the police carried out a search on him they found a pellet gun.
He also claimed that he took away the gun from a 13-year-old school boy who had shot him earlier.
He went on to ask the Magistrate for bail at a reasonable sum, because he is the sole bread winner for his family and has five children to take care of.
Bail was refused by the Magistrate and he was remanded to prison and will make his next court appearance on November 2.
