At the end of day one Lower Corentyne were responding strongly to the 277 made by East Coast Demerara and have raced to 70 for 1 in just 13 overs.
The two teams are engaged in the match being played at the Albion Community Centre in the ongoing Jaguars Franchise Cricket Competition.
East Coast won the toss and elected to take first strike. Aided by a number of drop catches by the usually slick Lower Corentyne unit, the East Coast lads rode their luck to prosper with Chanderpaul Hemraj batting at No5 leading the way with 91(11X4, 1×6). Bashkar Yadram who opened the batting made 71( 4×4, 1×6) as the two came together with their team struggling at 48-3 to take the score to 156, putting together 113 for the fourth wicket. Steven Sankar batting at No10 scored a breezy 41 (3×6, 3×4), while Paul Wintz was unbeaten on 24.
Bowling for Lower Corentyne, off spinner Gajanand Singh captures 4-48, while the pacey Raun Johnson who had a number of chances floored off his bowling ended with 3-70. There was one wicket each for Kassim Khan, Royston Crandon and Sharaz Ramsarran.
Lower Corentyne were off to a bad start with the out of form Akeem Hinds failing again, being caught behind for 0 with the score on 8.
Since then the inform batsmen Jonathan Foo and Khandasami Surujnarine were continuing their good showing for the season so far on an easy paced pitch.
Foo, who offered one difficult chance on the mid-wicket boundary, was undefeated on 36 with 8×4, while opening batsman Surujnarine undefeated on 27 with 3×4.
Wintz has so far taken the wicket that fell.
