A man is now dead after he reportedly collided with a stray horse some three weeks ago on the East Canje Public road.
Deodatt Singh, 32, of Lot 8-9 Cumberland, East Canje, Berbice died at the Georgetown Hospital on Friday.
According to reports the accident occurred around 22:20 on August 24 on the Canefield, Public Road, East Canje, Berbice. Singh was riding motorcycle CD 5674 when he collided with the unbranded horse.
The bike was owned by a relative, Beajie Singh, of Highbury Village, East Bank, Berbice.
Information revealed that Singh was proceeding north along the western driveway toward New Amsterdam, when it was alleged the horse ran from the eastern side into the path of the motorcyclist causing the collision.
As a result of the impact Singh received multiple injuries about his body. He was picked up by a police patrol that was passing at the time and rushed to the New Amsterdam Public Hospital for emergency treatment.
Singh was subsequently transferred to the Georgetown Public Hospital, where he was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), suffering from a fractured skull and other injuries.
He remained in a critical condition in the Georgetown Hospital until he died around 09:00 hrs on Friday.
