A large quantity of essential medicines and medical supplies were delivered to the
Mabaruma Hospital last Thursday when the Minister within the Ministry of Public Health, Dr. Karen Cummings, visited Region One.
According to the ministry, the delivery of this quota of medicines and medical supplies comes at an opportune time, as the staff of Mabaruma Hospital continues to work assiduously at maintaining optimum levels in relation to the delivery of quality health care.
The adequate quantity of medicines and medical supplies means that the Mabaruma Hospital can continue to improve its level and quality of patient care.
“I am very pleased that the Mabaruma Hospital is operating in an efficacious manner and continues to offer superb service to the residents of Mabaruma and its surrounding communities. At the Ministry of Public Health, we will guarantee that all efforts are made to ensure that not only Mabaruma but all our health facilities deliver best quality healthcare to the residents they serve,” Minister Cummings said.
A team of specialist doctors also visited Mabaruma hospital last Saturday to treat patients who suffer from specific conditions.
The team led by Orthopedic Specialist, Dr. Fawcett Jeffrey, comprised a pediatrician as well as pediatric surgeons. The two-day clinic resulted in several persons benefiting from the services of the medical team.
The Ministry of Public Health will continue to send specialist doctors throughout the 10 administrative regions of Guyana, as their needs require. This initiative is all part of a strategic plan conceptualized by the Ministry of Public Health to ensure that all aspects of our people’s health are catered for in an efficient and effective way.
Improving the quality of health care provided to persons living in Guyana is an essential priority of the Ministry of Public Health. The equitability and accessibility of health care and health care services are crucial areas of focus the Ministry intends to improve upon, as it strives to make primary healthcare universal in Guyana.
